BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM, VIENNA:

The Regional Centre Vienna (RCV) has coverage for over 33 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and in Asia. As the worldwide oncology centre for the corporate group since 2000, it is one of the company's most important sites. It is the flagship enterprise in the Austrian capital, employing more than 2600 people in research, production, sales/marketing and enabling functions. Of this number, the site employs between 300 and 350 research scientists. In the pursuit of new cancer drugs, there is an annual research investment of EUR200 million. The funds are aimed towards a variety of research approaches including cancer immunology, cell surface receptor signalling, cell cycle regulation, tumour cell survival and tumour angiogenesis.

As the centre of Boehringer Ingelheim’s oncology research, RCV is one of the most important sites within the global organisation. The centre carries out research on new knowledge ventures for cancer and other globally devastating diseases. The second focus is the development and production of biopharmaceuticals. It is also a long-standing main sponsor of the Vienna Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP).

The Vienna site houses a dynamic team who are the uniting force of science, law and business. It is a highly diverse group, celebrating over forty nationalities - all of whom bring expertise and an amalgamation of knowledge to form a truly cohesive and successful team.

 

Senior European Patent Counsel

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This role is a key appointment for a senior attorney to join the biological patent team and support the Head of Patents for Vienna.  Thanks to the continued growth and investment into R&D and oncology, this position is essential. You will bring a wealth of knowledge, business acumen and the ability to mentor junior team members; quickly establishing yourself as a source of additional guidance for the team.

You will join a research-driven organisation, working on a variety of IP projects within oncology, including cancer immunology. Thus, this position will give you the opportunity to be on the forefront of developments with the overall mission of improving lives worldwide and reducing the human impact of this devasting disease.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:  

  • You will have an academic background in biology, biochemistry or a related degree.
  • You will be a qualified European Patent Attorney with experience that will allow you to successfully support and mentor junior team members.
  • You will have a strong foundation in drafting and prosecution activities which can be tailored to the differing needs of the assigned projects. The benefit of joining the Boehringer Ingelheim Vienna IP Department is that the mix of projects can be tailored to your level of experience.
