Patent Attorney (m/w/d)
You will be at the forefront of innovation and be an integral part of the success for developing new medicines for patients, stemming both from internal as well as externally partnered projects, and through all phases from early research to clinical development and for marketed products.
This position can be filled in Ingelheim or Biberach and is part-time eligible.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will devise and implement project-specific patent strategies for Boehringer Ingelheim´s products and development projects in the field of biologics as team member patents within international, cross-functional research and development teams.
- You will manage patent portfolios effectively, including drafting and prosecuting high quality patent applications, and defending Boehringer Ingelheim's patent rights in patent office and court proceedings, including opposition and appeal proceedings.
- You will be involved in legal opinion preparation, safeguarding of Boehringer Ingelheim´s freedom to operate, and contributing towards conflict management strategies.
In addition, you will support enforcement and defense of our IP in litigation and pre-litigation matters. - You will secure Boehringer Ingelheim’s interests in contracts regarding patent issues by providing and negotiating IP concepts and drafting IP clauses in licensing and collaboration projects.
- You will pro-actively identify patenting opportunities in product development and in research and development projects.
Requirements
- European patent attorney and/or equivalent national qualification at a major patent office
- Doctoral or Master’s degree in life sciences, focus biology, biochemistry or related discipline with several years of working experience in patent practice (e.g. industry or private practice / law firm) with proven track record of handling biologic patent portfolios
- Ability to handle complex projects and to work in a matrix organization and in interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and stake-holders
- Cooperative, independent way of working and efficient self-management skills with a professional authority
- Understanding the interface of patent law and commercial business aspects
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English with experience presenting and concisely communicating complex information to all levels of an organization, knowledge of German is a plus
