You have the opportunity to help an established and successful IP firm internationalise in Europe, through setting up an office in Munich. Berggren is recognised globally and is a private practice which provides the full gamut of IP services to its broad technology-base of clients. Over the eighty years of operation, the firm has grown from a national player into a world-wide IP provider.
In 2016, Berggren opened an office in the USA in support of its American client base. This project has worked well and they now want to embark on a new chapter of European expansion with the plan to hire a team of patent attorneys to be based in Munich. The reasons are plentiful including the opportunity to increase attorney capacity, build a local profit centre, have offices close to the EPO, and build a new client base within the DACH region and across Asia.
As a newly appointed manager, you will play a key part in realising this vision!
You will take a leading role in setting up, running and growing the Munich office, with responsibility for developing the firm's German client base as well as being a conduit for European prosecution work emanating from Asia.
You will set out the strategic direction of the office and with this plan, you will hire additional patent attorneys to join the firm - this will become a branch office with at least five other professional members to the team. As a Partner of Berggren, you will work with the Business Development Team in raising the awareness of the firm to the local market and building up a client base. Berggren knows that this will take time, but they see this as a long-term initiative in the firm’s expansion. You will receive support from other colleagues and there will be a regular presence of attorneys to Munich to assist with establishing the culture, systems and processes whilst also engaging with client acquisition.
This is a wonderful opportunity to make your mark in a firm which has realistic ambitions to achieving its expansion plans as well as providing you with the environment, support, and a work-life balance synonymous with Nordic organisations, in achieving your career goals.
You come to this position as a dual qualified
from either private practice or industry. You may already be a Partner or you could be a Senior Associate striving for your next career step. What is equally important is your attitude and energy in wanting to work alongside your colleagues in making a success of this project, and in doing so, further developing your professional competencies.
